The first chapter of the saga features Superman, Lar Gand (Valor), and the Creeper as Eclipso, the evil god of vengeance, unleashes a plot to plunge the world into eternal darkness, planning to rule the world by possessing its mightiest superheroes.

Vril Dox leads an attack of Earth heroes and L.E.G.I.O.N. members on Eclipso's moonbase. Their goal is to rescue their possessed friends who are in danger of becoming part of Eclipso forever. It doesn't go well. Lobo refuses to even take part in the mission and one of their own is a dirty traitor.
