1. Enter now: The Age of Apocalypse A new team created by Magneto and led by Colossus is about to embark on a suicide mission, but one that has grave importance for the future of this world. On Magneto's orders the team must infiltrate the child labor camps to rescue Illyana Rasputin. Chamber, Husk, Skin, Vincente and Mondo are in full training combat. There team has just been assembled by Colossus on the orders of the X-Men leader Magneto. Colussus steps in to deal some damage and teach the team a grave lesson - kill or be killed. Husk uses Colossus' speech as an opportunity to attack from behind, releasing a bio-organice techno acid to severely damage Colossus. Shadowcat, enraged, attacks Husk and the rest of the team swoop upon Kitty Pryde. The fierce battle is broken up by a telepathic message from Magneto - Colossus and Shadowcat have been summoned. Magneto has taken to heart what the strange futureman Bishop has told the X-Men and reveals to the two how Nightcrawler are verifying his words as they speak. Colossus is ordered to search out and rescue his sister Illyana Rasputin from the child labor camps of Core Portland.
2. The Generation Next team led by Colossus and Kitty Pryde attempt to infilitrate the Seattle Core, where Sugar Man runs a child labor camp. Their mission - rescue Colossus' sister Illyana Rasputin. Skin and Chamber hijack a scheduled bus used by the security at the Seattle Core, and kill two guards in the process. Colossus and Shadowcat are surveying the perimeter of the core when an "undercloak", a perimeter guard that hides among the shadows on Sugar Man's orders, nearly kills Shadowcat but is saved by Colossus. Meanwhile, in a downtown spa, Husk, pretending to be human, is "attending" to the needs of a customer called Quietus, the administrator of Core Seattle. After being invited back to Quietus' place, Husk prepares them both a drink and Quietus begins to hit on her. However, Quietus has a device which can detect mutants and discovers that Husk is not who she appears to be. But it is too late as Vincente, having turned into liquid and been drunk by Quietus, returns to solid form and Quietus explodes. Husk and Vincente search through his files for intel on Illyana. Mondo clears the entrance to the core, as Vincente together with Husk disguise themselves as the dead Quietus to gain entrance. Upon entering, and receiving a single from Starsmoore and Skin, they venture further into the core. Deep below in the mining camps, Illyana and Ace survive another day.
3. The Generation Next team have infiltrated Seattle Core on a mission to find and extract the mutant sister of Colossus, Illyana Rasputin. Husk and Vincente are disguised as Quietus, the foreman of Seattle Core, Skin and Chamber are disguised as guards and Mondo is traveling underground to the child labor camp. Skin and Chamber witness a guard indiscriminately kill a child's father for simply offering his daughter some food. Skin has to pull Chamber back or risk them both revealing their identity and blowing cover. Mondo, also a witness, cannot hold back and destroys the balcony the guard was posted at and he falls to his death. Meanwhile, Husk and Vincente have reached Quietus' office and are skillfully keeping up the appearance that they are the administrator of the facility. Sugar Man pays Quietus a visit, and Husk believing their disguise will be seen through cleverly hides in the shower to hide the "stench" that Sugar Man would smell through to reveal their true identities. According to Sugar Man, Apocalypse has gained intel on an X-Men led mission to break into the core and wanted to discuss this with Quietus. Colossus and Shadowcat are poised to phase down into the underground mining facitlity and complete the final phase of the mission. Know-it-all, M counter version, contacts Kitty and Colossus to provide an update on the teams progress and warns them that Skin, Husk, Chamber and Vincente have all been cornered underground. Sugar Man has been told by one of the guards that Chamber and Skin are not security but infiltrators. Sugar Man demands Quietus execute them in front of everyone. Mondo, now 6 miles underground, saves a falling Ace before finding Illyana.
4. Mondo has Illyana contained within his chest, but she is being consumed and time is running out. Husk and Vincente disguised as Quietus are about to execute their fellow team mates on Sugar Man's orders. Mondo is transporing Illyana Rasputin out of the mines using the form of a guard. Timing is ticking, as Mondo has hidden Illyana inside his body and is consuming her by the minute. Above them, Sugar Man has cornered four of Generation Next and demands Quietus (Husk and Vincente) to kill Chamber. With no choice, they blast him in the head, but it does little to satisfy Sugar Man. Their cover has been blown and Sugar Man uses his deadly tongue to piece Husk's false body of Quietus. The game is up and they all reveal themselves. Sugar Man orders his underlings to attack and just as they dive for the young mutants, Chamber explodes his chest and reveals that he used his psionic power to fool everyone in to thinking Husk killed him. In the ensuing battle Vincente is knocked unconscious. Colossus arrives and orders them all to find Illyana at once and extract her from the core immediately. Sugar Man hears this and decides to burrow his way underground to find out just what the reason is that the young X-Men decided to come on this suicide mission. Down under, Mondo fights of several guards after blowing his cover and comes across the little girl Ace again. Ace begs him to take her with him and he sympathetically obliges. Just then, Sugar Man's tongue pieces Mondo's abdomen and Illyana pops out of his chest. Sugar Man has Illyana though not for long as Colossus falls straight on Sugar Man's head. He subsequently stamps and punches Sugar Man to a pulp. The battle has become fiercer and all the human slaves are now fighting toe to toe with their captors. The Generation Next team's escape seems all the more insurmountable. The team are attacked from behind but Shadowcat, who had been hiding in Colossus body, jumps out and deflects the enemy's attack.
