In 1967, four transformed refugees slaughtered the scientists experimenting on them and escaped. Team 7 was ordered to the USS Independence in the Gulf of Mexico to the island base where the virus experiments were being conducted to clean up. The refugees’ bodies and the body of the infected scientist were placed in stasis in a secret storage facility beneath New York City.
