This issue is part of the "Year of the Scourge" pseudo-"Crossover".In a cutaway sequence, the newly genetically altered Fly, now more giant fly than man in a fly suit, lurks in an alley and sees Spider-Man swing by. As the Fly takes off to pursue Spider-Man and seek his revenge upon him, he is shot and killed by an explosive bullet from behind by the Scourge.
